KPKP Educates Youths About Urban Farming

It is not expensive to implement hydroponic system as long as they are determined and creative

Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security Agency (KPKP) Department socializes urban farming to around 200 youths at KPKP Department Office, Jalan Gunung Sahari Raya, Central Jakarta.

Through this socialization, Jakarta KPKP Department Head, Darjamuni said, his side wants to explore youth's potentials in urban farming and recruit them to be urban farming mentor in their neighborhood.

Senen Sub-district Office Intensifies Urban Farming Development

"In urban farming, we focus on hydroponic system education because it is potential to be developed in settlement area. Besides, it is not expensive to implement hydroponic system as long as they are determined and creative," he explained, Tuesday (4/23).

In this event, his side invites urban farming expert, especially that relates with hydroponic system, as the speaker. His name is Bambang Jasnanto. He educates participants to grow plants in a simple way using hydroponic system by utilizing unused goods such as bottle, pipes, bucket and others as supporting media for planting.

On the other side, Jakarta Youth and Sport Department (Dispora)'s Youth Empowerment Section Head, Ponirin Ariadi Limbong stated that his side is ready to facilitate and support youth communities who want to start or develop urban farming using hydroponic system.

"This is a synergy between Dispora and KPKP Department to encourage youths to participate and collaborate in implementing urban farming in Jakarta," he mentioned.
